I attended meeting of the Traders. This was the second meeting that I have attended with traders and I am impressed with the enthusiasm of the new committee and members. It was important for the town to have at last a representative body of the trading fraternity in the town.
Thursday 22nd March Coastal Forum
I am the Chairman of this neeting.This meeting was attended by forty plus public to hear the latest news and ongoing work on the gardens and the seafront.West Dorset District Council were represented by Mr G Allen.Mr N Browning,Mr M Rawles. Reports were given on Phase 2/4 Cobb Gate Jetty, Marine Parade Shelters . There was a question and answer session afterwards. A good meeting which kept everyone present up to date.
Friday 23rd Annual Town Meeting
As Mayor I am Chairman of this meeting This is a special meeting , a public meeting
called once a year for the benifit of those who have the right to vote in Lyme , and for them to raise any matter of public interest regarding the town with their representatives from the three Councils,WDDC ,DCC and LRTC who have responsibilities for Lyme Regis . The police are there to answer any matters that arose from the meeting that concerned the public. Members of the public who have business in Lyme or other connections have their say in open session at the Chairman's discretion . The Agenda was a full one as you can see from the following. These were presentations from the Lyme Regis Community plan, Marine Parade Shelters Regeneration, Lyme Regis Fossil Festival "Rising Seas" 2007,the Lyme Regis Arts Festival 2007 and the Lyme Regis Sure Start Children's Centre. Questions were taken and answered if possible or taken back to Council for later perusal. Coffee,Tea and biscuits were generously supplies by the Woodmead Hall at the end of the evening. I wish to thank the Woodmead Hall for all the work they put in on the night allowing us to give an excellent evening to the electors.
